Arizona Islamist Media- (Issue No. 4.0)– Arab Voice Reports on Arab-Muslim Commmunity Fundraiser for Senate Candidate

[This piece appeared in Arabic in the October 2006 issue of the Arab Voice on page 1]-translation provided by AIFD. AIFD Commentary provided below translated article. “A Party in the Honor of Pederson” by the Arab Voice Mr. Safai Arkawi held a grand dinner party in honor of (Senate Candidate) Jim Pederson. The main reason behind this dinner party was to support and collect money for the election campaign of Pederson. Many leaders and community members of the Arabic community were invited to the Arkawi home including representatives from — the multicultural business community, the press, al-Mehdi organization, CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations), the Arizona Islamic Political Action Committee, the Palestine committee, and a number of Arabs who belong to the Democratic party. Mr. Safai started the dinner party giving a summary about the Arabic community in Arizona and the Democratic Party. He, then, presented Mrs. Janice (sic), the Democratic Party Coordinator in Arizona and who was a former member of the Arab-American Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC). She is the one who nominated the democratic candidate for the senate from Arizona to run against Jon Kyl who is running for another term. And we should mention that Kyl is a Republican candidate known to be a big supporter of Israel and the Zionist lobby in Congress. Several meetings had occurred in the past three years between him and the Arabic community where they discussed several issues of interest to the Arabic community on the local and international level. The community tried to build a bridge with Kyl, but it was collapsed lately under the different positions he took, during the war on Lebanon and Palestine. Pederson was introduced at the dinner party by Mrs. Janice (sic) and he then discussed how his political philosophy and his background in the business field are going to help him serve the state of Arizona. After that he was asked several questionsラbeginning with a question from the Arab Voice asking him to clarify his agenda about health care, immigration, education— and what his opinion was concerning Napolitanoメs recent refusal to attend a rally supporting a ceasefire in Lebanon? And what would he have done if he got the same invitation? Of course, as a typical politician, he avoided answering such a question and gave a vague answer, and blamed it on the Napolitano administration all the while assuring her good will. Then he was asked another question about what is currently preventing Arabs and Muslims from sending donations to charities and the closing of some of the organizations that are doing such things; and what he would do if he was elected. Mr. Omar Shahin, the representative for the Muslim Political Action Committee, in the name of his Committee, presented Pederson with its support. This committee is fairly new and was just started only just a few month ago and was started to impact the local elections and in order to meet with Democratic candidates. We should mention that this this committee presented support to candidates who are Democratic up until this time. Other Arabic organizations are also expected to enlighten and educate their representatives about the agenda of the candidates who are running for the local elections and about the proposed changes of Arizonaメs constitution (referenda). ——————————————————————- AIFD COMMENTARY– This ‘newsメ report of this political fundraiser (also including photos of attendees with the candidate) by a nameless reporter appears on the front page of the local Arab Voice published by Breek Publishing. The central relevance of this to AIFDメs anti-Islamist, non-partisan mission is that it clearly illustrates the pervasiveness and growing momentum of political Islam (Islamism) in the local Muslim community— regardless of which candidate or party to which the Islamists pander. A perception or an attempt to create one of a ムMuslimメ voting bloc is the ultimate ideological weapon of the Islamist minority who wield their influence within the demagogy of political Islam. An empowered Islamist lobby propagates all the core maladies of political Islam which AIFD seeks to counter. The profound ideological danger of this toxic mixture of religion and politics in the Muslim community is the same regardless of party affiliations. The report is on the front page of this monthメs local Arab Voice distributed freely and unopposed to those in the Arabic and Muslim local community. Note this paper sits in or near the prayer areas of almost every local mosque, and is also ubiquitous in ethnic stores, and Islamic organizations locally. It remains astonishing that such a toxically partisan and controversial reporting disseminated under the guise of journalism is distributed without competition or balance in the community or any suggestion that the Arabic or Muslim community may not be as politically monolithic as this paper tries to imply. Most reports put out by this publisher, make a subtle but potent collectivist political assumption, as Islamists are want to do. Not only do they present political islam as the norm but their particular version of it as the only one- both are dangerous. They conveniently ignore the fact that the paper and the organizations still represent only a minority of local Arabs and Muslims. The core supposition of Islamists is that individuals who share a spiritual religion (of God and not of this world) would naturally share a political ideology (of this world) for a specific candidate or policy. Additionally, it should be noted that the newly formed Arizona Muslim Political Action Committee noted in this Arabic report and announced in this publishers previous Muslim Voice was fully represented at this fundraiser by none other than a local imam and also ubiquitous Muslim religious leader- Imam Omar Shahin. Imam Shahin also is known in the local religious community to be the head of the Valleyメs Imam Council, the Islamic teacher at a local Islamic parochial school, and also an imam of a local mosque. Yet, this same individual is reported here in Arabic to be also representing a Muslim PAC. One would be hard pressed to find non-Muslim examples of a single clergy who while having multiple congregations also speaks on behalf of religious PACs. Is there anything which typifies the toxic mixture and penetration of religion and politics more? By the way this imam also emceed the recent CAIR-AZ fundraiser. This reportメs association of a number of religious and civil rights organizations in the Arabic and Muslim community with a political candidate fundraiser should cause concern about the establishment of Islamism in local politics and its endemic mixture of islamism and politics. Note the defining issue (Middle East policy) which this report remarks on regarding this candidate’s opponent. Thus, this lobby hijacks an entire religious community for its own focused policy interests and any other policy discussions are simply pandering. Certainly, the mosaic of American politics has a number of cultural and faith lobbies. But the local Islamists are decidedly different. The singular nature of this foreign language publication and the political solidarity and unanimity of local Muslim imams and their pulpits are all bolstered by the demagogy of this Arabic publication and demonstrative of the dangers of Islamism. This is much more than a simple faith or cultural lobby. Even if by some miracle ideological political diversity were to work its way into local Islamist circles and we were to see the development of bi-partisan islamists locally, the end game for Islamism remains political penetration of religiously motivated laws and policy. Until this end-game is abandoned any empowerment of Islamists risks legitimizing this cause. Translations of reports like this distributed to the local Arabic community are a valuable window into the Islamist mindset. Until more Americans, Muslim and non-Muslim, understand the central role of Islamism or political Islam and its subtle but central threat in the global conflict we are in, we will continue to enable, legitimize, and empower an ideology which runs against one of the central ideas of being American- that our elected representatives separate between religion and legislation. ——————————————————————————– This report and translation is provided as a service to our community. We pray that this type of extremism and lack of moderation in opinion does not represent the majority of Muslims and Arabs in the community. Arizona Islamist Media- (Issue No. 3.0)– “Arab Voice Rushes to Reassure its Readers and Advertisers while issuing veiled threats to its ‘Enemies'”

[This piece appeared in the June 2006 issue of the Arab Voice on page 1]- translation provided by AIFD. AIFD Comment below translated article. “If you hear bad things about me” by Marwan Ahmed, Editor-in-Chief “If you do not like to be criticized do not do anything that leads to it. Our work in journalism forces upon us to have an opinion and to take a stand. Journalism that pleases everyone is a deceiving form of journalism and many times journalism results in many friends and enemies.” “Today we have friends and we have enemies. But our enemies are predominant at this time due to our clear and solid stands on several issues and due to our obvious influence on the local Arab American forum and the clear relationship we manage to build in the economic and political milieus. And because of the bridges we built between the Arab community and other communities, some started to build animosity and vengeance and envy to influence advertisers who use our publication to stop using us in order to put pressure on us. But they ended up failing in all of their attempts of both the old and the new in forcing us to change our fixed attitudes. They started claiming that we hate Shiites and other times they said we hate Christians or that we support terrorism.” “In all of this I would like to relay good tidings for the readers that all of these are false claims and some of the advertisers informed us officially about them and that they had no influence on them and their intention of continued advertisement.” “And we say this so that we wontメ be blamed for any measures that we take against these individuals who are trying to subvert our interest and our rights in the freedom of opinion and publication. We need to mention also that publications that take certain attitudes stimulate discussion and exchange of ideas which in the final analysis is to the interest of the community which is by itself in the interest of the advertisers and their businesses.” “I have other good tidings to relay to all readers and haters, that we will continue reporting our attitude strongly and our advertisers will not be affected. We will always express fully where we stand even if we pay for it a price from the financial or personal standpoint. As the poet said, モif my criticism comes to your from one who is deficient, it is further proof of his deficiency and of my wholesomeness.ヤ —————————————————- AIFD COMMENT: This rambling nonsensical diatribe is a most bizarre letter of reassurance to his readers and advertisers. It is quite remarkable that Mr. Ahmed has resorted already after just four months of our educational program to front page diatribes of fear which one would have thought would happen only as a last resort not as an initial salvo. His comments are intentially vague, and one can only guess that they refer to some of our educational efforts at AIFD herein to expose his ideology. Our Arizona Islamist Watch reports have focused on simply disseminating his ideology in an educational manner and responding to it from an anti-Islamist Muslim perspective. We do this to inform the public about the opinions distributed by the Arabic language Arab Voice and the English language Muslim Voice while showing that other entirely different viewpoints do exist in the Muslim community. Yet, note Mr. Ahmedメs complete avoidance in this editorial of any issues of substance but rather focus upon demonization of others and victimization of himselfラtelling his readers, モeven if we pay for it a priceヤ. This hyperbolic response comes yet only after a mere 4 months and counting of exposure of his pervasive Islamism to the general public. For the first time in over 10 years, this educational service from AIFD has begun to break the Islamist monopoly which Breek Publishing has on opinion representation in the activist Muslim community locally. For some reason which is not clear here, Mr. Ahmed is very upset about this. His comments in Arabic to his local Arabic audience seem to say that when the same freedom of speech he enjoys and uses is used by those who disagree with him to provide an alternative viewpoint, it becomes モhate, vengeance, and envy.ヤ Mr. Ahmed conveniently confuses his own Arizona public accountability for all of his opinions with his own visceral emotions of choice– ムhateメ and ムvengeanceヤ Most papers of credibility would have welcomed attention to their opinions from other mediums since newspapers are supposed to be in ‘opinion’ industry. However, his victimization response can only mean that Breek Publishing has a great deal to hide. Why fear an informational service which highlights his Islamism? Our educational program only informs the greater Arizona community about Breek Publishingメs opinions and material while also providing some response. There is nothing more democratic than that. Breek Publishingメs form of democracy has nothing to do with real debate of the issuesラIslamism vs anti-islamism within Islam. In fact, much as one may find in the ailing Arab world, anti-democratic forces prefer to demonize individuals and distribute hateful cartoons in the name of democracy (as Mr. Ahmed has before) rather than try and defend their politically volatile Islamist opinions to the greater Arizona community. Finally, Mr. Ahmed has also already begun to discharge veiled threats in Arabic telling his readers, モso that he wonメt be blamed for any measures that he takes against these individualsヤ. Certainly not typical comments for a serious journalist. Herein is the typical Islamist dissociation of responsibility for their own actions. He is already laying the groundwork in Arabic on his pages for taking ‘measures’. It would seem that from the outset, he would rather begin by doling out veiled threats than by engaging in a legitimate debate about the incompatibility of Islamism with Americanism or any of a number of the other topics our reports have exposed. His is just another typical response from a dodging Islamist. Islamists will do anything to avoid real debate. They prefer to focus on demonizing those who disagree with them while wrapping themselves shamelessly in victimization and freedom of speech all the while denying the same for their adversaries. Perhaps it is becoming more clear now why in over ten years no one else had yet outed Mr. Ahmedメs Arabic publication to the greater Arizona community. ——————————————————————————– This report and translation is provided as a service to our community. Arizona Islamist Media- (Issue No. 2.0)– “Arab Voice Highlights itself as a leader in meetings with a Congressional Candidate of the 3rd District and also opines that America is a Camel”

[This next piece presented in its entirety appeared in the April 2006 issue of the Arab Voice on page 3]- translation provided by AIFD. “A Meeting between Arab personalities and the Democratic candidate for Congress in Phoenixヤ by the Arab Voice. (this piece also featured a photo with the individuals listed and the Democratic Congressional Candidate for the 3rd District, Herb Paine) モA meeting was held with several personalities from the Arabic community organized by Mr. Safai Arkawi and Miss Janice (sic). Miss Janice is the organizer for the Democratic Party in Arizona.ヤ モ The meeting was held with the Democratic candidate from the Third District in Phoenix, Arizona. The meeting included Mr. Mohamed al-Abassi, Amjad Abu-Alhalla, Zohair AlSulti, Wajdi Abdeen and Marwan Ahmed, the publisher for the Arab Voice.ヤ モAnd there was a complete discussion of points of importance to the local Arabic community among which was immigration issues, health insurance locally, and also issues related to Iraq and Palestine at the foreign policy level.ヤ AIFD Comment: The Arab voice highlights its representative(s) and their inclusion in this meeting presenting them as tacit representatives of the local Arizona Arab community. It makes no qualms about presenting itself as the representative of the local Arabic community with a candidate for Congressional office (note the comment–‘a complete discussion of points of importance to the local Arabic community’). Interestingly, this supposition is made only to a select audience in the Arabic language. Do the Arabs in the Valley which this article purports to represent agree with or are even able to accept the political extremist positions put forth by this Arabic language Arab Voice? Does the Arab Voice and its Islamist ideology represent the majority of the local Arizona Arabic community? How aware is Congressional candidate Herb Paine, or some of our current local elected officials on both sides of the aisle and their handlers of the ideological reality of the Arab Voice? Do they know that these meetings and photo-ops are only used to demagogue an image of leadership for the Arizona Arabic community which has no other print media voice? Do they also know that this piece is positioned next to another Arabic language piece from the same publisher which is translated below and hideously compares America to a camel? Moreover, would most of the local Arizona Arabic and Muslim community if made aware, acquiesce to allowing their community to be represented by a newspaper distributing these ideologies? ———————————————————————————– [This next piece presented in its entirety also appeared in the April 2006 issue of the Arab Voice on page 3]- translation provided by AIFD. America a Camel by Ahmed Bakkadi (a feature editorial) モThe camel is among Godメs strange creatures and the Qurメan ascertained exactly that when it said, ムdid you not see how the camels were created?メ The camel is strange because it is characterized with body characteristics that are strange and behavior that is even stranger. And if you look carefully to the body structure of the camel, it starts looking like it is a combination of several creatures put together in one. His head is small out of proportion to the rest of his body which is gigantic. His neck is long and curved, and his legs are very long and bent. His stomach (sic) is big, and he has a big hump over his back and his tail is short. This is only what appears of his strange anatomy.” “His internal structures and his behavior are many and no one can explain it but a veterinarian scientist. Among the strange behaviors of the camel that he is known not to forget bad things made towards him which he holds as a deep feeling of vindictiveness against whoever hurt him and the camel is used as an example of a creature who does not know his own shortcomings while he is fast in recognizing the shortcomings of others. There are stories about the camel being sarcastic about the weak and thin structure of the neck of the deer.” “As it is known there are people who try to make similarities between animals in their shape or behavior to countries. There are some similarities between animals and people thare are used such as the elephant which is a sign for the Republican Party that governs America today.” “But it would have been better if that party and even America took the symbol of the camel because America is characterized by a lot of the characteristics of the camel that God ordered us to think of its creation. There is not enough time or place here to include all of the characteristics of the American camel but we will be satisfied to refer to the fact that America cannot, like the camel, see the curvature of its own neck. The best example of that is how America cannot see the violations of human rights while it violates the human rights of others through its military, diplomatic, and internal security agencies, like in the prison of Abu Ghraib and Guantanemo Bay and the other secret prisons in different parts of the world from Asia to Syria.” “America did not mention a letter about what it committed in violations of human rights that is so known that it became stories that were parts of the legends of the old with its familiar words and expressions.” “So did I not tell you that America is the camel that does not see the curvature of his own neck.” AIFD Comment: This feature editorial from an Arab Voice frequent columnist is obviously pedestrian and its examples are illogical and shamefully inappropriate. Its metaphors are absurdly antagonistic and are poorly contrived to say the least. More importantly and substantively, this type of grossly negative generalization about America is classic for Islamism. It dispenses with facts. It uses the tired highlights of old anti-American polemics and seeks simply to malign the image of America in the Arabic language among the Arizona Arabic community rather than educate or inform. The Islamist goal is simply to continually paint vague negative images of the ムgodlessメ secular America which is confused and animal-like in its behavior when compared to the societies represented by the fantasies of theocratic Islamists. The reality, however, is that these anti-American opinions exist in a denial vacuum where many of these local blinded Arabic language writers live. They should rather be reminded that in the entire Middle East whose despotic governments this newspaper has rarely if ever appropriately critiqued, there is not a single Arab nation where human rights have any meaning whatsoever. The Arab Voice should be ashamed of itself. Its writers need to learn from their own camel and turn their crooked head and look at their own hump. The whole world plainly sees it despite Arab columnists like this attempting to deny its existence while at the same time blaming others for having it. ——————————————————————————– This report and translation is provided as a service to our community. Arizona Islamist Media- (Issue No. 1.7)– “Local Muslim Voice defends Hamas, Abu Ali, and global boycotts of Denmark”

The following appeared in the English language Muslim voice February 2006 and March 2006 issues and is distributed widely here locally in Arizona. Hamas and Western Policies: by Marwan Ahmed (Muslim Voice, February 2006, page 1- interestingly this piece is not linked on the Muslim Voice website) モWhen democracy brings pro-West parties favorable to big business itメs a victory, yet when it brings so-called terrorists groups chosen by people at the voting ballots then they threaten to isolate and reverse financial support they pledged for the Palestinian economy? What kind of message is the west sending people of the Middle East? Vote for pro-Western parties or suffer the consequences? What options do they leave them?ヤ AIFD Comment: The publisher of this newspaper again demonstrates an affinity for a radical ideology. In this brief front page missive the newspaper takes the position that the Palestinians had no other options than to elect the radicalism and intransigence represented by Hamas. Does this represent the opinion of the majority of American Muslims here in the Valley? The big business theory is a common Middle East conspiracy theory about how American policies are set, and yet the newspaper’s position conveniently avoids any discussion or discontent with Hamas’ extreme radical ideology. ———————————————————————————— A Lesson to Anti-Islam (sic) Media by Marwan Ahmad (Muslim Voice, February 2006 page 1) “A widespread boycott of Danish products is underway in the Islamic countries, starting in Saudi Arabia, and is expected to spread to over 50 nations. The position of the Danish government is not to prevent freedom of speech even when it comes to mocking religious figures. Until the Danish government and its local paper retracts and denounces their position on Islam and its Prophet there will be more reactions to this escalating situation. We as Muslims need to encourage media to keep religious beliefs and figures out of target lists and playing on peopleメs most sacred beliefs as means of gaining popularity.” AIFD Comment: The Muslim Voice here takes a position which is in line with the demagoguery of Islamists and demonstrates the threat which these ideas and Islamists pose to the stability of secular democracies. Put another way, the Arizona Muslim Voice is stating that Western media and western citizens need to fear worldwide Muslim reaction when they may violate the sensibilities of Islamist demagogues. In fact this paper is threatening on its front page, the Danish government, its local newspaper, and any other media or western citizens who may threaten Islamist sensibilities in the future. It threatens with continued ‘Muslim escalating reaction’ which can only mean continued national boycotts and economic oppression out of proportion to the supposed ムcrimeメ committed. Are we as Americans and as moderate Muslim Americans to stand in fear that Islamists when offended again, next time perhaps by a local American newspaper, will act like the Danish Islamists? Will this newspaper gather a group of imams and go to the Middle East (much as a few Danish Islamists did) and rally Muslim radicals and their symbiotic dictatorships to enact boycotts against the United States? Would the Muslim Voice endorse an oil embargo by Middle East oil monarchies of the entire U.S. crippling our economy in order to get retribution for a private newspaperメs indiscretions? This is the only assumption which can be made from this position statement of the Muslim Voice. In effect, for this so-called Muslim Valley newspaper, the lines of religion supersedes any lines of nationality when a simple cartoon offends. Such radical behavior for citizens against the economy of their own nations is not Islamic behavior nor is it in keeping with the Qur’anic direction to abide by one’s citizenship pledge. The vast majority of local Muslims cannot believe in such extremism. ———————————————————————————– モHuman rights abuses high, speaker saysヤ by Mima Mohammed (March 2006, page 9, found at this link at the Muslim Voice) “Bray told the story of Ahmed Abu Ali, a 23-year-old American from Texas and resident of Falls Church, Va. In summer 2003, Ali was taking final exams at a Saudi Arabian university where he was studying when Saudi law enforcement officials forcibly removed him from his classroom and subsequently imprisoned him for 24 months. ” “According to Bray, Ali was found guilty by association, but returned to the United States after his friends and family waged a legal battle with the federal government. Once back in Virginia, however, Ali faced federal charges of conspiracy to aid and abet terrorism. Bray said that Ali alleges he was whipped in Saudi Arabian prison and coerced into giving a confession, which was then used by the U.S. government to prosecute him. ” “Bray believes that Aliメs shocking treatment should open the eyes of Americans to the illegal actions currently sanctioned by the current administration. Ali is appealing his conviction, but if his appeals are turned down, he could face up to 80 years in prison. ” AIFD Comment: This report was basically a reiteration of Mr. Mahdi Brayメs, (Executive director of the Muslim American Society) stance on the Department of Justiceメs case against Ahmed Abu Ali. The reporter gives Mr. Brayメs tired discussion of Mr. Aliメs victimization. It is incredulous that this case clearly, for those who actually take the time to review it, had a preponderance of the evidence which pointed to Abu Aliメs involvement in an Al Qaeda plot. The Muslim Voice and the Muslim American Society join global Islamists in exploiting the Abu Ali case to present a false victimization of Muslims. With all of the Muslim American Societyメs protestations to the Abu Ali case, not once does Mr. Bray criticize the well documented radical ideology of Abu Ali which can certainly be associated with a propensity toward violence not to mention the evidence clearly linking Abu Ali with the actual al Qaeda plot against the President. The local Muslim Voice had no qualms with publishing an apologetic from Mr. Bray about this convicted American traitor. ————————————————————————————– Cartoons donメt kill, bombs do! By Mohammed Riyad (Muslim Voice, March 2006, page 16, also found at this link) モThere are other aspects that need to be considered here: The Muslim world has been under assault from western, Christian crusaders for a thousand years. Theyメve colonized and despoiled their lands. Many in America regard the Muslimメs oil as rightfully thereメs (sic)–“The Americansヤ — an underlying if not complete explanation for George Bushメs war of conquest.” “The Westerns (sic) have carved up the Middle East, overthrown democracies, and fostered despots to suit the Westメs imperial aims. And Westerns still wonder why THEY donメt like us, and why THEY take insults from us so seriously. However, itメs worth saying that American Muslimsメ reaction to the cartoon was very different from their brothers in the rest of the world. While poor Muslims failed to mobilize any protest to the モassaultedヤ cartoon. Muslim モso calledヤ civil rights organizations have been failing their poor fellows by falsely alleging that the administration is siding with Muslims in this crisis!ナ.” モThat, of course, making this argument suggests that the Muslim world should passively accept an intentional provocation, one that intentionally attacked one of the religionメs strictest prohibitions.” “I personally believe that the cartoon violence is more an expression of rage against the West, than a defense of the dignity of the prophet. And who can blame this rage? Over 100,000 Iraqis have been killed and at least thrice that number maimed. Citizens are worse off now than under the time of Saddam–less oil, less electricity, less clean water, less security.” “In the TV footage of rioting Muslims in Syria, one placard stood out: The West has entered a Dark Age. That much is true.ヤ AIFD comment: This extreme op-ed by a frequent contributor to the Muslim voice and also one of its advertisers basically legitimizes the violent riots (モwho can blame this rage?ヤ it says). It is a reckless, baseless, anti-American rant based on blind rhetoric and complete falsehoods borrowed from the tired Islamist line against the U.S. Al-Jazeera would be proud. Writing from the comfort of his local American legal office, the writer makes the incredulous statement that the West is in the dark ages. He lays the complete blame of the ills of the Muslim world upon the westメs doorstep starting with the crusades from a thousand years ago. This diversionary dishonest technique is a pathognemonic indicator of a radical Islamist. The writer is loose with historical facts and inappropriate associations. This frequent Muslim Voice columnist is unwilling to point to our global community’s own failures and that of our coreligionists which led them to the current situation of ignorance and failure. This denial continues all the while columnists like this live and benefit from the freedoms of America. ———————————————————————————— This report is provided as a service to our community. Arizona Islamist Media- (Issue No. 1.6)– “Local Muslim Voice asks Muslims to unite in defense of Hamas and Recently Shut Down KindHearts”

The following are excerpts from an article on the front page of the March 2006 local Muslim Voice entitled: When the white bull was eaten” “There is an Arabic story that I heard about a wolf coming to three bulls: a white, a red, and a black one. The wolf took the red and the black bulls aside and told them if they let him eat the white bull he will not have any further interest in eating them. So they did, and the wolf ate the white bull. Then the wolf went to the black bull and told him if he let him eat the red bull he will not attack or eat him. He agreed. Later, the wolf came to the black bull and told him he is coming to eat him. At that time the black bull told the wolf, ‘I should have known that I will be eaten when the white bull was eaten.’ ” “The moral of the story is when the wolf divided the bulls and convinced them not to come to save the white bull he was able to conquer them one at a time. When the black bull realized what the wolf was up to, it was too late.” “Today we see this happening over and over again in our community as the government closes one charity at a time in the name of combating terrorism. When they closed the Holy Land Foundation first, followed by two other organizations, hardly any Islamic organizations made a serious attempt to stop the insanity of stopping aid to Muslims around the world.” “Now since Hamas won the elections in Palestine our government has been threatening to cut off funds to the Palestinian authority. Therefore they decided in an unwarranted way to close one of the most active charities in our community who helped not only Muslims but many non-Muslims too. From Katrina victims to the earthquake in Pakistan, they were always on the frontlines aiding humanity. However, for obvious reasons, our government decided to use politics to starve Palestinians for electing Hamas into their own government. ” “Again, this administration is sending the wrong message not only to the people of the Middle East but to the entire world. Theyメre saying that if democracy does not produce what we approve of we are going to fight back with sanctions, boycotts and isolating the winners. These double standards in our foreign policies need to be revaluated and redesigned to be consistent and fair. And the message to our Muslim organizations is that you were eaten when the Holy Land Foundation was eaten.” This article can be found online at the Muslim Voice website at this link. ————————————————————————— AIFD COMMENT: Clearly here, this weak ‘parable’ from the Muslim Voice makes some very disturbing projections of support and linkage for the entire Arizona Muslim community. The Muslim Voice is coming to the defense of both Hamas and KindHearts (recently shut down by the Treasury Department over allegations of violations of American law by funding Hamas). The story seems to make the defense in the name of the entire local Muslim community. Would the majority of local Muslims agree with this linkage? Reading between the lines, the moral of the story seems to be that when the wolf divided the bulls (‘Muslims’) and convinced them not to come to save the white bull (a victimized Muslim or Muslim organization) he was able to conquer them one at a time. They lost the strength of their unity. When the black bull (one of the leaders of the Muslim community) realized what the wolf was up to, it was too late. Thus, the Muslim Voice is implying that all Muslims should unite politically to support such causes as Hamas or KindHearts. One could perhaps understand religious unity in the face of pervasive immutable discrimination or violations of freedom to practice our faith. But both of these causes among many others put forth by the Muslim Voice are not religious (spiritual) causes but profoundly political causes simply done in the name of Islam. Regardless of the corruption and the toxic mixture of politics and religion in Hamas and Kindhearts, the Muslim Voice still asks Muslims to defend them simply because they are Muslim by name and happen to share a spiritual path regardless of their toxic political or foreign national path. Unity by faith in the cause of politics should be very concerning to most American Muslims if we are ever going to defeat radical Islamism. The Muslim Voice opinion seems to subordinate our community’s responsibilties as American citizens to uphold laws against funding terrorist organizations which utilize corrupt methods such as the targeting of noncombatants and random violence as methods of political change in the name of our faith. Many Muslims should take great offense at being grouped into front page opinions in a cultural newspaper which prioritizes political Islam and subordinates principles which directly affect American security. In fact, what is also sorely lacking in our community is an argument to the contrary, that we as Muslims should be policing our own agencies for even tacit support of terrorism (i.e. in Hamas), anti-semitism, or anti-Americanism. American Muslims should rather unite against political Islam and radical terror networks by name and by ideology. Perhaps a more representative parable for the Muslim Voice is that those who advocate causes under the guise of political Islam are in fact the real ‘bulls’ who have taken over all aspects of the ‘nature’ and ‘wildlife’ of our Muslim spiritual earth in which all Muslims could live and share a non-political spiritual path. ——————————————————————————– This report is provided as a service to our community. Arizona Islamist Media- (Issue No. 1.5)– Local Muslim Voice continues anti-military extreme bias

The following are excerpts from an article in the February 2006 local Muslim Voice entitled: “モMilitary forces criticized as a persistent problem for every day youthヤ. モThey want you! The military wants people to join now more than ever. With the ongoing war in Iraq, and people being killed and the militaryメs numberメs dwindling. The military is a great opportunityナif youメre moderately poor, and canメt afford college or if you just want to serve your country. Even though you would be fighting for a pointless war, and a brainless leader. Most of the people that join the service do so because the military offers to pay for your college once you are done serving.” “However, with the ongoing war, many may not even come back from the war and even be able to go to college and others may be so disabled that they will have to endure many months or even years of rehabilitationナ.ヤ モthough the DEP (delayed entry program) military policy clearly states that recruits are allowed to change their minds and not enlist, and the military recruiters who help the students sign up sometimes ムthreaten them , tinimdate them, and tell outright liesヤ These are among the findings of a five-month investigation entitled モGI Liesヤ led by reporter Dale Russell of Fox 5 TV News.ヤ モThe military goes crazy when theyメre trying to recruit you, they wonメt stop calling you and sending you stuff,ヤ Sunnyslope junior Amanda Nelson said. The military barges into peopleメs lives and wonメt leave them alone. ナ they donメt care how they do it, just as long as they do it.ヤ AIFD Comment: While a few of our American military recruiters could be inappropriate in their tactics, this piece in distribution to the Muslim community malignantly paints a skewed picture of our entire military. In fact it baits the Muslim community to hate all military recruiters. If extreme opinions such as this were balanced by more positive truthful examples of the benefits of military service to our youth and service to our nation, this piece would be insignificant. But in the context of repeated anti-military polemics in this newspaper with no local rival, it is exceedingly harmful to the perceptions of the Muslim and Arab communities. There is no wonder the numbers of Muslim youth applying for our military academies, ROTC, and other military programs continues to be abysmal. This propaganda may sell and be inconsequential on Al Jazeera, but locally left without balance it only serves to drive a malignant wedge between our Muslim community and our American military. Anecdotal and sloppy reporting like this is intentionally placed in cultural newspapers by Islamists in order to turn off any interest potential local moderate Muslim youth may have in serving their nation in the military. This piece is an example of the repeated subversion of the image of the American military by some of those who have never served and have no first hand knowledge of their biases. This article and its views run at the core of the war of ideas that we need to wage against the Islamists and the threat which their ideology poses to our youth and to our security. If Islamists succeed in destroying the image of our American military within the local Muslim youth, enlistment in the armed forces will be a rare occurrence from our youth and greatly discouraged by their parents and family. The one-sided nature of this type of negative propaganda within the Muslim community should no longer be unopposed. It is time for the Muslim community to be exposed to other viewpoints about the honor and distinction of serving in uniform with any branch of our armed services. It is in fact the deep tradition of voluntary military service from American families from across our nation which is the backbone of our strength as a democracy. Demonizing the military is akin to demonizing the American people. As the only print so far in the Valley speaking specifically to the Muslim community in Arizona, this cannot represent the majority of Muslims in the Valley and their viewpoint of the honor of serving in the U.S. military. In fact, many American Muslims serve today proudly in active duty. However, one would be hard pressed to ever find a positive piece in the Muslim Voice about our brave soldiers who protect our nation and fight radical islamists abroad. A balanced debate about the activities and conduct of our armed services is always healthy in a democracy; however, constant one-sided discouragement from service and dissemination of blatant prejudice and bias against our military is a disservice to our nation and to our security. Until our Muslim youth are encouraged to participate more readily in our armed services this type of hate will continue. Until our Muslim youth begin to personally testify to their own families and thought leaders in our community of their positive experiences in serving their nation, the conspiracy theory mentality upon which all of this hate is based will continue to certainly propagate. Meanwhile, back at home, local Islamists will continue to disseminate this type of vitriol and keep the divide of hate wide between American Muslims and the U.S. military wide rather than encourage participation in the most direct form of fulfillment of their citizenship oath- military service.

Arizona Islamist Media- (Issue No. 1.4)– Arab Voice on “The Lie of God’s Chosen People”

モThe lie of Godメs chosen peopleヤ. By Abu Nidaa (in a section of the paper entitled ムSharing with readersメ). モThe place is the area where you cross between Jordan and the cleanest spot on Godメs earth which is Palestine. From 6 OメClock in the morning until 4 OメClock in the afternoon we did not go for more than half-an hour from the Jordanian stop point until we got to the biggest catastrophe which is the Israeli stop point. My wife is ‘Um Nidaa’ and my daughter is Nidaa and my grandchildren are Hatem and Fayez whose age does not exceed 6. We stayed all of us waiting to be permitted to cross into Palestine, the land of our fathers and grandfathers.” “And I kept on saying to the responsible officer and the irresponsible soldiers, ‘both of them originated from Russia and eastern Europe,’ I kept on asking them what did this kid do who are Americans in nationality spending 6 hours waiting? Isnメt this terrorism which if it had occurred to one of those Israelis anywhere in the world the whole world would have exploded with questions about anti-semitism.” “What does peace mean to you, enemies of peace? What does democracy mean to you enemies of democracy? You are afraid of the trees and the stones and the ground and the sky because these speak Arabic and you are afraid of our children and our grandchildren more than you are afraid of our men. We are proud of that. What is the civilized picture you are trying to draw? In the minds of our children you occupying killers we tell you once and a thousand times there will be no replacement for the return despite the difficulties and the encumberances. We shall return. Palestine is my country. My country, my country, and my country and to her my heart belongs.” AIFD Comment: This piece speaks for itself in its tone and offense. Briefly, is the statement that Israelis fear children and grandchildren more than Palestinian men a glorification of suicide bombing and the use of children in terrorist operations? Note the complete lack of moderation and the repeated call for a right to return which basically is a euphemism for the destruction of the state of Israel. ——————————————————————————– This report and translation is provided as a service to our community. We pray that this type of extremism and lack of moderation in opinion does not represent the majority of Muslims and Arabs in the community. Arizona Islamist Media- (Issue No. 1.3)– Arab Voice chastises CAIR for receiving King Abdullah

モWhy does the CAIR organization receive King Abdullah in its yearly conference?ヤ “The attendance of King Abdullah at the CAIR (Council of American-Islamic Relations) yearly conference this year was an incident that attracted the attention of most observers. CAIR is known to defend the civil rights of Arabs and Muslims in the United States, and many of them have resented this yearメs guest.” “They gave support to this person as the head of a state which rules with police organizations that do not appear to recognize the simplest forms of civil rights for its own citizens. It would have been much more appropriate to invite personalities known to be defenders of civil rights like Nelson Mandela or others who have a good reputation in that area instead of the head of a state which built special prisons for the punishment and torture of prisoners from Afghanistan and Iraq as some observers mentioned.” “The question here is what kind of a message this organization [CAIR] was trying to convey to the Arabs and Muslims in the United States with this action?” AIFD COMMENT- It says quite a bit when this piece, among other things, tries to make CAIR (an organization whose Arizona chapter shares office space with this newspaper) appear more moderate in the Muslim community. The Arab Voice chastises them for inviting an American ally, King Abdullah. The editor hypocritically chooses to concentrate on one of the most moderate rulers in the entire Middle East who is a friend and an ally of the United States and who arguably has led changes to thwart terrorism and militant Islamism among Muslims. This is not to mention the hypocrisy of the publisher of this same newspaper who has taken AIFD to task on multiple occasions for being too hard on the Saudi Wahhabists. See this link where I comment back in 2004 on Mr. Ahmad’s bizarre defense of the Saudi Wahhabist and his whitewashed perception of their reform. The common thread here is the promotion of the Islamist agenda. Those who counter it are this paper’s enemies while it rushes to the defense of those who defend Islamism. It is even more interesting that the main criticism of this newspaper distributed monthly on American soil and written in Arabic against the King of Jordan is his crackdown on terrorists (prisoners of war against the U.S.) coming from Iraq and Afghanistan. What then are the inclinations and loyalties of the editor of the Arab Voice and the writer of this piece? How does King Abdullahメs attitudes towards civil rights compare with that of the Palestinian organization (Hamas or the PA), not to mention countries like Syria, Iran, and Saudi Arabia all of which this newspaper has never found room to criticize in any of the issues we have reviewed. This Arab Voice has been a constant apologist for those dictatorships. It would seem that its barometer of hate is not related to measures of freedom but rather to those who happened to be allied with the U.S. (note another piece in the Muslim voice we will send out soon which glorifies foreign Muslim organizations which protested President Bush’s visit to India). ——————————————————————————– This report and translation is provided as a service to our community. Arizona Islamist Media- (Issue No. 1.2)– “Arab Voice hails “Latin America gains a new struggler against imperialism in Bolivia”

モLatin America gains a new struggler against imperialism, Boliviaヤ pg 5. (no author) モThe new Bolivian leader promises to support Fidel Castro against the United States.” “The new socialist leader Evo Morales who is a decendant from an Indian tribe and who won the recent Presidential elections in Bolivia declares his support for Fidel Castro in his struggle against imperialism on an interview that he gave to Cuban television.” “Morales who is going to become the president of the poorest country in Latin America said, ‘I have been dreaming all my life to support the struggle against imperialism and to support the Cuban people and now I have the opportunity to join him in his struggle for peace and social justice.’ He also invited the U.S. to lift the economic embargo on Cuba and predicting that the new struggle will be ending with victory.” “The United States is extremely interested in these developments especially because the new president of Bolivia appears to be encouraging the cocaine trade and his ties to the president of Venezuela Hugo Chavez and to Fidel Castro. ナナヤ AIFD Comment: This piece clearly sides with Castro, Cuba, and the Bolivian government against any American interests in democratizing Latin America. These types of pieces and comments could have been written in the old Provda of Moscow at the height of the Cold War. This demonstrates the extreme Leftist, Socialist and outright Communist support which the Arab Voice is providing in an Arizona publication to the only true Communist regime left in the World– Cuba. ——————————————————————————– This report and translation is provided as a service to our community. Why AIFD provides the “Arizona Islamist Media” Reports

Providing an information service and stimulating debate within our local Arabic and Muslim community In our モArizona Islamist Mediaヤ reports we are disseminating articles and opinions from the Arab Voice and the Muslim Voice. We do this not to stifle freedom of speech which we most certainly defend as a core right guaranteed by our U.S. Constitution. Rather, we are widely disseminating this information to make sure that our fellow Arabic and Muslim community members are fully aware of the type of ideology being distributed by our businesses and places of worship under the guise of the only cultural newspapers. As the only newspapers in our community, they become whether we like it or not representative of the type of newspaper our community supports, endorses, and distributes. AIFD was founded as an organization based upon the consistency of the separation of religion and state within our faith of Islam. So certainly, following local media organs which embody the very ideology (islamism) with which we disagree is natural in an open debate no different than any ideological antagonists would do in a free society. However, more importantly, the extremism and tenor of some of the ideologies presented on the pages of the Arab voice and the Muslim voice make it necessary that our community fully understand what is being distributed as the only media ムcommunityメ organ of American Arabs and American Muslims in the Valley. We certainly defend Breek Publishingメs right to freedom of speech as we do all of its sponsors and distributors. But, perhaps its sponsors or distributors are not aware that an advertisement or shelf space for distribution is a clear tacit endorsement of the acceptability of the ideology. Certainly, advertisers and distributors need not agree with all of the ideas presented in a newspaper, but when the paper travels into the distant margins whether far to the left or far to the right from mainstream America it becomes a real liability for all of its sponsors. Perhaps, the vast majority of these businesses are not aware of how extremely leftist and Islamist these publications remain. Many businesses and places of worship utilize these publications to contact the cultural and Muslim community since they are the only game in town. Perhaps some awareness of the liability of these publications will awaken some in the community to provide other community newsletter options which are free of politics and free of radical leftists and Islamist ideology. The Arabic writers of the Arab voice depend on the fact that few mainstream Muslims or Arabs or other Arizonans read this and obtain great comfort from its dissemination in a foreign language. We just cannot believe that our Arabic and Muslim communities are fully aware of the ideology of these newspapers. Some may say that these reports are ムpolicingメ or censoring free speech. Quite the contrary, we are not asking that Breek Publishingメs right to publish or distribute be changed. In fact we defend it. Rather, we are simply exercising our own right to free speech in order to finally open the long overdue debate concerning whether Marwan Ahmed and Breek Publishingメs material actually represents our community.
