“…it was beyond refreshing to hear our Secretary of State publicly and unwaveringly reset the misguided policies of the Obama era doctrine.”

Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, President of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy lauded Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for his speech in Cairo. Dr. Jasser, noted,

“As a reform-minded Muslim dedicated to advancing the ideas of liberty, it was beyond refreshing to hear our Secretary of State publicly and unwaveringly reset the misguided policies of the Obama era doctrine. The repudiation of Islamist terrorism whether from Sunni extremism of ISIS or Shi’a extremism of Iran’s Khomeinists is now a marker that has begun to clarify what a Trump Doctrine will look like for American policy in the Middle East and across the Muslim majority world. It is long overdue for the United States to lead through strength and already in less than a year since the reinstitution of sanctions and the decimation of ISIS, we have seen a rebalancing of the fragile conflicts across the region.”

Dr. Jasser concluded,

“We hope that this strategy will continue to progress toward the next natural steps where the United States begins to advance from simply a defense against those that hate freedom to an offense in the advancement of the ideas of liberty and counter-Islamism.”
