January 7, 2019 – Is America Falling Asleep at the Wheel?

January 7, 2019/in AIFD in the News, latest news, Video/by AIFD

Don’t let the relative silence of the radical Islamists lull you into a false sense of security.

January 7, 2019

Dear friends and supporters of AIFD,

I hope this note finds you in good health and joy, amidst hope for a peaceful new year.

Here I’ve shared with you a short video of my thoughts on our efforts and why, along with your support, our work is even more critical today as we continue our fight against Islamism.

2018 was quite an enlightening year for AIFD. So much progress was made in the many areas we follow or we lead, not least of which was the thankful decrease in Islamist terror attacks. But we realized more than ever the complacency our nation and the free world has when it comes to defeating Islamism.

With the wane of specific acts of terror, the understanding of the threat also waned. This revealed to us the significant amount of work ahead of us to defeat the threat of Islamism. While it is comforting news on one front that Islamist terror in the US has diminished, we fear that Americans will falsely interpret this as a decrease in jihadism and its Islamist inspiration.

Contrarily, the non-violent Islamist movement is rather flourishing in America as Islamists continue to exploit our unprecedented freedoms, denigrate our American values, and work to empower our Islamist enemies across the globe from Turkey, Syria, Qatar, Iran, and Pakistan to name a few. In fact, part of the decrease in terrorism may be the consolidation of understanding among Islamist leadership that non-violent Islamism is far more effective against the West for their goals than violent Islamism (terrorism) ever could be. Terrorism woke up the sleeping West, which may be going back to sleep?

It is imperative that we remain vigilant in the fight against Islamism, even in the absence of Islamist terrorism, as terrorism is only one tactic employed by Islamists. Regardless of whether it is violent or non-violent, the end goal always has been (and always will be) a world of Islamic states that join into a global caliphate.

If we are going to prevail in this battle, we must fight for liberty with the same intensity and consistency that the Islamists fight to destroy it.

Having said that, we remain steadfast in our devotion to the defeat of Islamism.

We look forward to hearing your thoughts and to your continued support.

Yours truly,

M. Zuhdi Jasser and the staff at AIFD
